Have this item, helps me sleep better at night.,
I bought this monitor when my son was going into his own room, he was just under the 4 month mark, and I had lost my nephew shortly before he turned 4 months old (this was not related to SIDS, but I was still paranoid). I read a lot of reviews on different monitors and I narrowed it down to this monitor and a video monitor. This one won out, merely because the alarm goes off if it does not detect any movement in the crib. If I had a video monitor I would probably be up all night watching him just to make sure he was still breathing.
The monitor works great, but you have to make sure you test it properly. I’ve tested it every time I change anything in the room (ie-changing his sheets, or changing the speed of the ceiling fan). This might seem a little extreme but it does make a difference depending on where you have your crib. It’s gone off quite a few times, mainly because my son has rolled into the corner of his crib and is no longer on the sensor. While the sound of the alarm going off is enough to scare the dickens out of you it has also made me feel better that this product does work.
This model came with 2 monitors so we keep one in our room, and one in the living room, they have a belt clip so you can move around and carry it with you hands free. The monitor that is in the babies room has a switch on it, that can be turned on or off and it gives off a blue light in the room so it can be used as a night light.
Now, I for one will say, that this product does not say anywhere on the packaging that it prevents SIDS in anyway, but I bought it for piece of mind. I have never seen an advertisement making these claims, as it is merely used as a monitor to tell you if it does not detect any movement for 20 + seconds in the crib. I still follow the rules of “No blankets/soft toys/place baby on back” to be safe, but with my son rolling on his tummy to sleep, I have no choice but to let him sleep the way he finds comfortable.
I would highly recommend this to any parent, the monitor may cost more than other monitors, but I found that it was well worth the money, and gives me some relief since I can’t stay awake all night just to watch my son sleep.

|too many false alarms,
This product is a great idea but has way too many false alarms. It would go off every couple of minutes, causing us to not get any sleep at all. I was really hoping this product would give us some peace of mind and instead it just frustrated us and we ended up sending it back.

|Necessary but broken,
We bought this unit the day before we brought our preemie home. For the first week it worked great we had the sensitivity on the lowest setting and never had a false alarm. Lately we’ve had to crank the sensitivity up to as high as it goes and even then every time we put him back in the bassinet after a feeding we get false alarm after false alarm until I pick the mattress up and turn the sensor pad 90 degrees. Which is a lot of fun at 3 am. Seems like we’re the only ones with a false alarm problem so maybe its our unit.
